At least 39 refugees, including children, drowned as their boat capsized off Turkey's Aegean coast early Saturday, Turkish media reported.

Initially 10 people reportedly died, among them five children, and 43 others were rescued when the 17-meter-long boat overturned off Bademli coast in western Turkey soon after departing from Turkey's Canakkale province for the Greek island of Lesbos. (Turkey-Refugee-Deaths)

LAGOS -- Six were killed, 11 others rescued after a boat capsized on Saturday in Nigeria's largest city Lagos, the country's emergency agency said.

The accident occurred around 10 a.m. local time when the boat, carrying about 17 passengers, capsized at Badore area of Lagos after departing Ijede town, Ibrahim Farinloye, spokesperson of the National Emergency Management Agency said. (Nigeria-Accident)

ALGIERS -- The Algerian army on Friday killed four armed militants in the northern province of Ain Defla, who allegedly belonged to a group that carried out a deadly attack on army troops last year, the Defense Ministry said.

They were part of "a bloody terrorist organization which attacked our forces in the same region on July 17, 2015, " the ministry said in a statement.Al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) claimed responsibility for that attack. (Algeria-Militants)

VANCOUVER -- Five snowmobilers were killed Friday afternoon when a large avalanche hit a snowmobiling area in western Canada, authorities said.

The disaster happened about 20 km from McBride City in the northeast part of British Columbia Province where at least three groups of people were snowmobiling. (Canada-Avalanche) Endite
