India's anti-terror agency has detained three suspected Indian sympathizers of Islamic State (IS) after they were deported from the United Arab Emirates.
"The trio were deported to the Indian capital late Thursday night and have been detained by the National Investigation Agency for questioning," a senior police official said on Saturday.
The three have been identified as Adnan Hussain, Mohammad Farhan, Sheikh Azhar Al Islam and they were allegedly on a mission to carry out a terror attack in India, the official said.
The anti-terror agency last week detained 14 suspected IS sympathizers in a nationwide crackdown before the Republic Day.
Indian intelligence agencies say they believe 23 Indians have so far joined the IS, and another 150 are being in touch with the terror outfit online. Endit
