Sevilla and Valencia join Barca and Celta in last four of Spanish Cup

Sevilla and Valencia joined FC Barcelona and Celta Vigo in the draw for the semi-finals of the Spanish King's Cup knockout competition on Thursday night.

Sevilla had few problems in dispatching second division outfit Mirandes after their 2-0 first leg quarter-final win a week ago.

Vicente Iborra's penalty kick just eight minutes into the game put Sevilla 1-0 up on the night and left Mirandes needing a virtually impossible 4 goals to qualify.

That never looked as if it was going to happen although it was not until the 69th minute before Juan Munoz scored Sevilla's second and Coke put the icing on the cake in injury time.

"We want to do something important in the Cup this year," said Sevilla coach Unai Emery after the game.

Valencia coach Gary Neville also had something to cheer about as his side won 1-0 away to Las Palmas to secure a 2-1 aggregate win to move into the last four.

Valencia have not won in seven league games under Neville's direction, but their Cup progress has been a different story and in Las Palmas a solitary goal from Rodrigo Moreno was enough to secure their progress and perhaps lift some pressure of the English coach.

Wednesday saw Celta Vigo produce a shock when they beat Atletico Madrid 3-2 on the night and on aggregate, while Barcelona also qualified after a hard-fought win over Athletic Club Bilbao.

The draw for the semi-finals will be held on Friday with the first leg of the ties played next week. Endit
