Egyptian F-16 crashes, crew die: spokesman

Xinhua, January 28, 2016 Adjust font size:

An Egyptian F-16 fighter jet crashed, killing its crew, during a military exercise, the army announced late Wednesday.

"An F-16 aircraft has crashed during an exercise, killing the crew," Mohamed Samir, spokesman for the Armed Forces, said in a statement.

The statement did not specify how many were killed, nor where the crashed took place.

Also on Wednesday, at least four military personnel were killed and 12 others injured in a blast that targeted their armored vehicle in Arish city of Egypt's restive North Sinai province, state-run Ahram Online reported.

The Egyptian security forces have been conducting massive anti-terror operations in North Sinai, killing and arresting hundreds of militants. Endit
