Speaking at the closing session of the 12th National Party Congress in Vietnam's capital Hanoi, Trong, who was re-elected as the general secretary of the 12th CPV Central Committee (CPVCC), said the congress has elected a new CPVCC representing over 4.5 million Vietnamese communist party members.

The 200 new members of the 12th CPVCC are those who meet requirements in terms of capacity, qualifications and moral to "shoulder a heavy responsibility entrusted by the party and the people," Trong said.

During the 12th National Party Congress, a new CPVCC was elected with 200 members, including 180 official and 20 alternate ones. At its first plenary on Wednesday, the 12th CPVCC elected a new 19-member Politburo and three-member Secretariat. Meanwhile, the Central Inspection Commission was also elected with 21 members.

The congress shows the unity and determination of the whole party, nation and army to fulfill the goal of strengthening the building of a pure and strong party, as well as a firm and strong political system, said the party chief.

"The new CPVCC will join hands with the whole party, nation and army to continue promoting glorious tradition, valuable experience of the party, strengthening solidarity, unifying thought and action, following the goal of national independence and socialism," said Trong.

During the meeting, deputies of the 12th national congress adopted several documents, including political report, report on implementation of socio-economic development in 2011-2015 and tasks for 2016-2020, report on reviewing the leadership of the 11th CPVCC, resolution of the 12th National Party Congress, among others.

According to a list announced at the 12th National Party Congress, Vietnamese Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang, Vice Chairwoman of National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc are included in the 19-member Politburo.

Tran Dai Quang (1956) was nominated to run for the position of Vietnamese president by the communist party, while Nguyen Xuan Phuc (1954) was nominated for the prime minister position and Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan (1954) for chairwoman of Vietnam's National Assembly, said Vu Trong Kim, vice president and general secretary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee earlier this week.

Meanwhile, the Secretariat of the 12th CPVCC includes three members, namely Luong Cuong, deputy director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; Nguyen Van Nen, head of Government Office and Nguyen Hoa Binh, head of the People's Supreme Procuracy.
