NATO Allies conduct tactical training during exercise Allied Spirit IV

More than 2,400 service members from seven NATO allies are conducting tactical training at the Hohenfels training area in Germany, during exercise Allied Spirit IV, U.S. mission to NATO reported Tuesday.

The multinational exercise, headquartered by the Italian Garibaldi Brigade, partners units from Canada, Germany, Latvia, Slovenia, Britain and the United States for over two weeks in order to train brigade and battalion level commands.

It prepares participants for various combat scenarios, such as conventional forces engagements, guerilla warfare and reacting to chemical attacks.

The exercise focuses on the interoperability and integration of multinational partners, which will conclude on Feb. 5.

The Allied Spirit series of exercises is only one of about a dozen major exercises U.S. Army Europe conducts annually at Hohenfels. Endit
