Ukraine's grain harvest fell to 59.96 million tons in 2015, or down 6.1 percent from a year before, according to official data released late Monday.
The country's State Statistics Service said in a statement that the drop was caused mainly by the drought in August and September, which resulted in an 18.5-percent reduction in corn harvest to 23.2 million tons.
The production of rye, barley, buckwheat and oats have also slightly fallen due to reduced planting areas and average yields, the statement said.
In contrast, the country's wheat output rose 9.9 percent last year to 26.5 million tons, while millet production was up 19.7 percent to 213,000 tons, it said.
Ukraine's grain planting areas totaled 14.6 million hectares (146,000 square km) in 2015, done 1.1 percent from 2014.
The average grain yield last year stood at 4.1 tons per hectare (410 tons per square km), down 2.7 percent year on year.
Ukraine experienced in 2014 a record grain harvest of about 63.8 million tons. Endi
