1st LD: Chinese Zhang Shuai roars into Australian Open women's singles quarters

Chinese qualifier Zhang Shuai grabbed firmly the ticket into the quarterfinals of the women's singles here on Monday night as she beat Madison Keys from the United States in the 2016 Australian Open tournament.

After 14 failed attempts to enter second round in the grand slams in her career, Zhang achieved huge breakthrough this year in Melbourne by powering through the first three rounds unexpectedly.

The late night battle of Monday lasted for one hour and 45 minutes, with a limping Keys who won the first set at 6-3 but later struggled in the last two sets, losing a double 3-6. Endit
