Xinhua, January 25, 2016 Adjust font size:

The official vehicle transporting Fiji's first lady Sarote Konrote tumbled on Monday, Fiji's Office of the President said.

The vehicle tumbled around 9:30 a.m. local time at a road in Suva near the Government House, official residence of the president, the Office of the President said in a statement.

Sarote Konrote and a staff member who was accompanying her as well as the driver were not physically injured and are undergoing a thorough medical check, said the statement.

The Fiji Police Force is conducting an investigation into the incident, and an assessment of the extent of damage of the official vehicle is also being carried out.

Jioji Konrote, Sarote Konrote's husband, was sworn in on Nov. 12 last year as Fiji's fifth president since the Pacific island country's independence in 1970. Endit
