Sudan's ruling party accuses foreign elements of foiling peace talks

Sudan's ruling party on Sunday accused foreign parties, which it did not name, of foiling the recent negotiations between the government and the rebels, Sudanese Media Center (SMC) reported.
"What happened in this round of the informal negotiations in Berlin reflects the extent of the links between the SPLM/northern sector and foreign forces," SMC quoted Mustafa Osman Ismail, a leading member of the ruling National Congress Party, who was referring to the negotiations between the Sudanese government and Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM)/northern sector.
"Sudan has tried to avoid those links through the national dialogue initiative, but the SPLM/northern sector concerns itself with its foreign links instead of the national agenda," Ismail said.
He reiterated that the door of the national dialogue is still open, urging the SPLM/northern sector to reconsider its position and join the dialogue and peace process.
He further reiterated that the dialogue is a pure Sudanese process but does not exclude political parties, political forces or armed movements.
The Sudanese government and the SPLM/northern sector ended two days of informal talks in Berlin on Saturday, without reaching any agreement.
The SPLM/northern sector has been fighting the Sudanese government in the Blue Nile and South Kordofan areas since 2011. Endit
