Turkish business mogul dies of heart attack

Xinhua, January 21, 2016 Adjust font size:

Mustafa Koc, chairman of Turkey's biggest conglomerate and the only Turkish Fortune 500 group, Koc Holding, died of a heart attack on Thursday at the age of 55.

"We are in a deep sorrow following the sudden death of Mustafa Koc," Koc Holding said in a brief statement.

As the only Turkish group on the Fortune 500 global list, Koc Holding's business covers a wide range of fields from energy and automotive to banking and finance, accounting for some 10 percent of the country's total exports.

Mustafa Koc took over the company from his father Rahmi Koc, the 84-year-old patriarch of the Koc family. The company was founded in 1926 by Mustafa Koc's grandfather, Vehbi Koc, who died in 1996. Endit
