Macao's CPI eased to 4.56 pct in 2015

Xinhua, January 21, 2016 Adjust font size:

Macao's Composite Consumer Price Index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, registered a 4.56 percent year-on-year growth, eased by 1.49 percent throughout the year of 2015, data from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) showed on Thursday.

Analysis indicated that higher rentals for dwellings, dearer charges for eating out and rising rentals for parking spaces together pushed up the annual inflation rate by 3.7 percent. meanwhile, receding prices of gasoline and Liquefied Petroleum Gas helped alleviate inflationary pressures.

Divided in categories, price index of Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco (+17.33 percent) and Housing & Fuels (+8.06 percent) registered notable increase, while that of Communication and Clothing & Footwear a minor decreased, according to the DSEC. Endit
