Philippines condems attack on Pakistani university

The Philippines on Thursday condemned in strongest terms the attack in a university in Pakistan, calling it "cowardly and reprehensible act."

In a statement, the Department of Foreign Affairs said the Filipinos extend their most heartfelt sympathies to those who lost their loved ones in this tragic incident.

"The Philippines expresses the hope that the perpetrators will be identified and held responsible," the department said.

It said there was no report of any Filipino casualties in the incident, which left 21 students dead.

The Philippine Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan continues to monitor the situation and stands ready to provide assistance to Filipino nationals affected by the incident, the DFA added.

The Taliban commander has claimed responsibility for Wednesday's attack. Endit
