Roundup: PSX pares gains to close red again

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) gave away intraday gains to close in red territory after investors booked profits at higher levels after a rally in oil sector stocks.

The Pakistan Stock Exchange's (PSX) benchmark KSE 100-Index fell by 0.05 percent or 14.21 points to 30,751.80 points on Thursday when compared with 30,766.01 points. During 15 trading sessions of the current month, the PSX's key index has lost 2,064.51 points amid only two bullish trading sessions.

The KSE All Share Index dipped marginally by 0.02 percent or 3.75 points to 21,574.61 points, the KSE 30-Index slipped by 0.18 percent or 31.55 points to 17,807.82 points, the KMI 30-Index inched up by 0.03 percent or 15.76 points to 52,307.74 points, whereas the Islamic All Share Index swelled by 0.1 percent or 14.10 points to 14,709.46 points.

During Thursday's trading session, the main index moved in a shallow range of 323.64 points as it touched an intraday high of 31,029.17 points as against an intraday low of 30,705.53 points.

Market volumes improved by 28.12 percent or 29.807 million shares to 135.807 million shares on Thursday when compared with 105.999 million shares posted on Wednesday.

Market capitalization reduced by 0.04 percent or 2.317 billion rupees (22.718 million U.S. dollars) to 6.547 trillion rupees (64.195 billion dollars) whereas trade value gained by 9.78 percent or 684.688 million rupees (6.712 million dollars) to 7.685 billion rupees (75.350 million dollars).

Among 330 active scrips on Thursday, prices of 162 issues advanced, 142 depleted, whereas values of 26 other companies stayed unchanged.

TRG Pakistan Limited, Karachi Electric Limited and Maple Leaf Cement were the top traded companies with turnovers of 14.264 million shares, 12.401 million shares and 6.776 million shares, respectively.

Siemens Pak XD was the top price gainer with increment of 39.82 rupees (39.04 cents) to 857.82 rupees (8.41 dollars) while on the other hand Ferozsons Laboratories led the major price shedders with decrement of 36.09 rupees (35.38 cents) to 1,064.67 rupees (10.43 dollars). Endit
