The "internationally recognized" Libyan parliament has to meet "as soon as possible" to approve the newly created unity government, France's Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.
"Given the emergency," Paris called for quick approval of the new government which is expected "to ensure full security and stop the spread of Daesh," the Quai d'Orsay said in a statement.
France also hailed the efforts of Libya's rival factions to create a unity government led by Fayez Al-Sarraj, president of Tunis-based Libya's Presidential Council.
Formed under a UN-backed plan, the government comprises 32 ministers and four deputies to the prime minister, the council announced on Tuesday.
