Int'l tourism trade fair opens in Madrid

The 36th edition of the International Tourism Trade Fair (FITUR) began Wednesday in Madrid, aiming to continue the trend which has seen the number of international tourist arrivals in Spain grow by over 4 percent per year for the past six years.

The 2016 edition has set a new record of participation with 9,500 companies from 165 countries exhibiting in a space of 60,000 square meters.

The number of visitors is expected to exceed the 222,551 people of the 2015 edition, while over 7,000 journalists have also been accredited to the event. Endit
