CPC offers subsidies for members in need

Xinhua, January 20, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee's organization department has allocated 80.2 million yuan (12.2 million U.S. dollars) in New Year subsidies for elderly and needy CPC members.

The money will mainly go to members who have lost their jobs or become poor due to disability or disasters, as well as relatives of those who have lost their lives in disaster relief duties, said the department in a Wednesday statement.

According to the statement, the funds will come from Party fees collected from members and will be sent to various lower-level organization departments before reaching eligible recipients.

CPC committees at all levels were also urged to set aside funds from their own Party management fees to distribute to these Party members when they send personnel to visit them around the New Year holiday.

The department stressed that these funds must be meticulously supervised and not used for other ends.

The Lunar New Year, the most important traditional Chinese festival of family reunion, falls on Feb. 8 this year. Endi
