Eurozone house prices up by 2.3 pct in Q3 2015

House prices rose by 2.3 percent in the euro area and by 3.1 percent in the European Union (EU) in the third quarter of 2015 compared with the same quarter of the previous year, Eurostat said on Wednesday.

The EU statistical office said in a statement that house prices rose by 1.0 percent in the euro area and by 1.3 percent in the wider 28-nation EU in the third quarter of 2015 compared with the previous quarter.

Among member states, the highest year on year increases in the house prices in the third quarter were recorded in Sweden at 13.7 percent, Austria at 9.3 percent, Ireland at 8.9 percent and Denmark at 7.2 percent. Falls were observed in Latvia, Croatia, Italy and France.

The highest quarterly increases were recorded in Malta, Ireland, Austria, and the largest falls in Hungary, Slovenia and Estonia. Endit
