Police smashes illegal organization jeopardizing China's national security

Xinhua, January 19, 2016 Adjust font size:

Chinese authorities announced on Tuesday they have smashed an illegal organization that sponsored activities jeopardizing China's national security.

The suspects, including a Swedish man, have been put under coercive measures in line with the criminal law.

According to a statement from Chinese police and national security authorities, the Swedish national, identified as Peter Jesper Dahlin, and another person have been operating an unregistered organization on the Chinese mainland in the name of an "emergency rights aid group," receiving unregulated huge sums of money from seven overseas organizations and carrying out unregulated activities.

The police said the organization hired and trained others, who were called "lawyers" and petitioners, to gather, distort, exaggerate and even fabricate negative information about China, providing the so-called "China's human rights report" to overseas organizations.

This organization had also intentionally aggravated disputes, instigated some people to confront the government and create mass incidents, according to the police.

According to the police statement, Peter Jesper Dahlin had confessed these illegal activities and expressed remorse. Endi
