Fire breaks out in luxurious hotel in central Paris, no casualties: media

A fire broke out Tuesday morning at a luxurious hotel in central Paris, causing no casualties, local media reported Tuesday.

The Paris Ritz hotel, which is located on the the extravagant Place Vendome and has been under major renovations since 2012, had its top floor and the roof set ablaze, French daily Le Figaro reported.

Firefighters were alerted at around 0600 local time (0500 GMT) and rushed to the scene.

The affected areas were estimated to be "large," firefighters were quoted by the report as saying.
