Xinhua, January 19, 2016 Adjust font size:

Nine South Koreans were confirmed injured on Tuesday in an accident in which dozens of cars rear-ended each other on an icy road, local media reported citing fire authorities.

Tens of cars and trucks collided with each other at an expressway in the country's southwest region at some 12:48 a.m. (0350 GMT). The road was slippery as it was heavily snowing.

Two people sustained heavy injury, with seven being slightly wounded. No death was reported.

About 30 cars are estimated to have been involved in the pileup collision.

The fire authorities dispatched choppers and ambulances to the site. The exact cause is still under police investigation. Enditem
