1st LD Writethru: 7 killed as blast hits check post in NW Pakistan

At least seven people including a child was killed and 17 others injured on Tuesday morning in a blast that hit a security check post in Pakistans northwestern provincial capital of Peshawar, local media reported.

According to the reports, the incident took place in the Karkhano Market area located at the border of Peshawar district and Jamrud town of the countrys restive northwestern Khyber Agency.

Security forces, police and rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the bodies and injured to the Hayatabad Medical Complex hospital in Peshawar.

At least one child, an officer and local journalist were among the killed, rescue officials said.

According to hospital sources, death toll may further rise as at least seven injured were in critical condition.

Nature of the nature has not been confirmed by the officials, but some reports said it was a suicide attack.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet. Endit
