Three American contractors are missing in Baghdad, Iraq, U.S. media reported here Sunday.

"We are aware of reports that American citizens are missing in Iraq," U.S. State Department spokesman John Kirby was quoted as saying said, adding "We are working with the full cooperation of the Iraqi authorities to locate and recover the individuals."

However, the spokesman gave no details about their number or the circumstances of their disappearance.

Cable News Network (CNN) quoted a U.S. official, saying their disappearance is being treated as "a possible kidnapping." Enditem
