Indian gov't says precautions being taken to prevent defense officials falling prey to honey traps

The Indian government Saturday said that precautions are being taken to prevent defense officials from falling prey to honey traps.
"I do not think that such things (espionage) are at high level. Few things came to light but they were at lower level and we have taken all precautions," Indian Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar told the media in the western state of Rajasthan's capital Jaipur.
He added: "Things like honey trap are generally avoided when we are alert. We should be alert all the time. We take care of it at the time of recruitment and training. There are also clear guidelines and code of conduct (for personnel) to deal with social networking sites."
The Defense Minister's remakes came in the wake of an Indian Air Force official falling prey to a honey trap and revealing official secrets to a woman spy who had posed as someone else on a popular social networking site and befriended him.
The suspected Indian Air Force official has been sacked by the Defense Ministry and is currently in police custody. Endit
