Tokyo stocks rebound in morning following U.S. shares' uptick

Xinhua, January 15, 2016 Adjust font size:

Tokyo stocks rebounded Friday morning following a global sell off a day earlier as equities in the U.S. slumped as well as stocks on other major global bourses.

But Wall Street's overnight rally bolstered investor confidence here and shares deemed oversold were bought back, local brokers said.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 126.27 points, or 0.73 percent, from Thursday to 17,367.22 at the morning break.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 10.48 points, or 0.75 percent, at 1,417.03.

Notable gainers in the morning comprised air transport, mining and retail-linked shares. Endit
