Xinhua, January 15, 2016 Adjust font size:

The U.S. dollar was mixed against other currencies Thursday.

In late New York trading, the euro lost to 1.0860 dollars from 1.0875 dollars of the previous session, and the British pound decreased to 1.4408 dollars from 1.4445 dollars. The Australian dollar went up to 0.6993 dollar from 0.6961 dollar.

The dollar bought 118.15 Japanese yen, higher than 117.84 yen of the previous session. The greenback moved down to 1.0060 Swiss francs from 1.0065 Swiss francs, and moved down to 1.4351 Canadian dollars from 1.4361 Canadian dollars.

The performance of dollar has been affected by latest data.

On the economic front, in the week ending Jan. 9, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 284,000, an increase of 7,000 from the previous week's unrevised level, the U.S. Labor Department said Thursday.

In a separate report, the department said U.S. import prices declined 1.2 percent in December, driven by a drop in fuel prices.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, was up 0.16 percent at 99.09 in late trading. Enditem
