Croatian new gov't to be formed on Jan. 22: Speaker

Xinhua, January 15, 2016 Adjust font size:

Croatian new government would be formed on Jan. 22 after parliament voting for confidence, Zeljko Reiner, the speaker of parliament said on Thursday.

He said the Prime Ministe-designate Tihomir Oreskovic would present members of his government and his program for the next four years at the parliamentary session.

Five deputy parliament speakers would also be appointed next week, he added.

No party won a majority needed to form a new government in Nov. 8's parliament elections which caused a six-week political deadlock in the country.

After negotiations the "the Patriotic Coalition," led by the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), which won 59 seats in the 151-seat parliament, and Bridge party, the third party, agreed to form the next government together and nominated non-partisan Tihomir Oreskovic as prime minister. Enditem
