Myanmar expresses deep concern over DPRK's hydrogen bomb test

Xinhua, January 14, 2016 Adjust font size:

Myanmar government has expressed deep concern over the recent hydrogen bomb test conducted by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), said a statement of the Foreign Ministry published on Thursday.

The test on Jan. 6 is in violation of the relevant UN Security Council (UNSC) resolution and undermines the international non-proliferation regime and increases tension in the Korean Peninsula, the statement said.

Attaching great importance to nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, the statement said Myanmar, also being a dedicated party of the Southeast Asia Nuclear Weapon-free Zone Treaty, is working vigorously towards a world free of nuclear weapons.

The statement urged the DPRK to comply with the UNSC' resolution. Endit
