Munir double as Barca reach last eight of King's Cup

FC Barcelona qualified for the quarter-finals of the King's Cup knockout competition on Wednesday night following a 2-0 win away to local rivals Espanyol.

The game took place in a hostile atmosphere in which a section of Espanyol fans displayed a banner with an unpleasant reference to pop-singer Shakira, the wife of Barcelona defender, Gerard Pique.

Neymar was rested and Luis Suarez suspended but Munir El Haddadi scored a brace of goals to silence the home fans and give Barca a 6-1 aggregate win in another match where Leo Messi produced an excellent performance.

Elsewhere, Athletic Club Bilbao won 1-0 away to Villarreal thanks to an Inaki Williams goal to qualify for the last eight 4-2 on aggregate after a 3-2 win in Bilbao a week ago.

Celta Vigo strolled into the quarter finals 5-0 on aggregate after a 2-0 win at home to third tier Cadiz.

John Guidetti, who scored twice in the first leg, and Dejan Drazic netted the goals in Wednesday's 2-0 win.

Las Palmas also reached the last eight as repeated their first leg win 3-2 against Eibar to qualify 6-4 on aggregate.

An own goal from David Junca, plus strikes from Momo and David Garcia Santana saw Las Palmas through in an entertaining match.

Tuesday night saw Sevilla thrash local rivals Betis 4-0 on the night to claim a 6-0 aggregate win, while Second Division, Mirandes produced the shock of the round as they won 3-0 away to Deportivo la Coruna after a 1-1 draw in the first leg a week ago. Endit
