EU expresses condolences to families of victims killed in Turkey's bomb attack

The European Union here on Tuesday extended its "sincere condolences" to the families of the victims killed in the bomb attack in Turkey earlier on Tuesday and wished a full recovery to those injured.

"The EU and Turkey stand united against all forms of terrorism. The fight against terrorism was recognized as a priority at the EU-Turkey summit on Nov. 29, 2015 and we must step up our efforts in this regard in full respect of our obligations under international law, including human rights and humanitarian law," said a statement by EU foreign affairs chief Federica Mogherini and European commissioner for neighborhood policy and enlargement negotiations, Johannes Hahn.

At least 10 people were killed and 15 others wounded in an explosion that hit Sultanahmet Square, the heart of Istanbul's tourist district. Endit
