Vietnam commerce chamber says ready to support Chinese firms in Vietnam

Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) stays ready to support Chinese companies while they are operating in the country, said a VCCI official on Tuesday.

Pham Quang Thinh, deputy head of VCCI's International Relations Department, made the remarks at a Vietnam-China business forum co-held by VCCI and the World Association of Chinese Elite Enterprises in Vietnam's capital Hanoi on Tuesday.

The forum is of great significance which aims to increase mutual understanding, said Thinh, adding that "VCCI welcomes Chinese firms to come and learn about Vietnam's market, seek cooperation opportunities in trade, technology transferring. We are ready to support Chinese firms in their cooperation process in Vietnam."

Zhang Shuai, head of the delegation of the World Association of Chinese Elite Enterprises said at the forum that "The cooperation of Chinese firms with Vietnamese businesses not only contributes to the development of Vietnam but also serves as a bridge for economic development between two sides."

Through the forum, it is expected that the cooperation among two countries' enterprises will help ensure environmental protection as well as social benefits for both sides, said Zhang.

Statistics by Vietnam Customs showed that in 2015, Vietnam-China bilateral trade revenue reached nearly 60.5 billion U.S. dollars, up 14 percent year-on-year.

Among the figure, Vietnam imported goods from China worth 45 billion U.S. dollars, up 13.8 percent year-on-year while pocketing 15.5 billion U.S. dollars from exports to China, up 14.6 percent year-on-year.

In terms of investment, as of the end of 2015, there have been 1,284 valid projects worth 10 billion U.S. dollars by Chinese investors in Vietnam. China ranked ninth among 105 countries, regions having investment projects in Vietnam. Enditem
