4 teens in custody, 1 on the run after group rape in NYC

Xinhua, January 12, 2016 Adjust font size:

Four teens were arrested and another is still being sought after they raped an 18-year-old girl in a dark corner of a Brooklyn park here last Thursday, authorities said on Monday.

But this tragedy might have been avoided if less time were wasted.

The girl's father said when the attack came, he was drinking beer with his daughter near a handball court at a playground. The teenagers approached them and one pulled out a handgun, ordering the father to leave.

The 39-year-old father claimed he wanted to make emergency calls to police immediately but did not have a cellphone at hand. When a merchant refused to lend him his telephone, the crazy father flagged down two police officers, who only discovered that all the assailants had gone away when they rushed to the scene over fifteen minutes after the attack happened.

On Saturday evening, police located a security videotape that shows the suspects in a deli and released it with a request for the public's help in tracking them down. Investigation is still underway. Endi
