China's military newspaper highlights Party rule

Xinhua, January 12, 2016 Adjust font size:

The military must follow the absolute leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and be "politically minded," a PLA Daily commentary said on Tuesday.

The commentary comes a day after the announcement that the four military headquarters -- staff, politics, logistics and armaments -- have been rearranged into 15 new agencies under the Central Military Commission (CMC).

The People's Liberation Army (PLA) is tasked with enforcing the Party's political line, it said.

These agencies must lead by example and follow the unified leadership of the CMC and the CMC chairman responsibility system, it said.

The commentary urged all agencies to work hard to adjust to the reshuffle, heralded as "a breakthrough" and "a crucial step" toward a stronger military.

The newspaper called on them to sustain and improve unity, implement democratic centralism, strengthen the building of Party committees and train officers to advance combat capacity. Endi
