The high-wire act presented by Colombian troupe The Gerlings at the 11th Budapest International Circus Festival won the festival's Golden Pierrot award on Sunday.
In the act, the Colombian artists built a pyramid in the air without any security net, providing a breathtaking picture.
The festival's international jury granted the Silver Pierrot award to Russia's Skokov troupe and the American troupe Flying Farfans.
The Bronze Pierrot award went to two Hungarian troupes Trio Power Line and Silver Power, Romanian troupe X-Treme Brothers, Portuguese troupe Dias Family and Spanish Nicol Nicols.
The awards will be presented at a gala performance on Monday evening.
The awards were named after Pierrot, a stock character, generally a clown, seen in pantomimes and Commedia dell' Arte since the 17th century.
They have been granted to top circus artists since 1996 when the Budapest Circus Festival was introduced. This festival is now considered one of the world's most prestigious circus events.
A total of 30 programs from more than 15 countries competed during the five-day festival which opened on Thursday. Endi
