Bank deposits in Albania up significantly in November

Xinhua, January 9, 2016 Adjust font size:

The total deposits in Albania's banking system rose to 974 billion Lek (7.7 billion U.S. dollars) by the end of last November, according to a report released Friday by the Bank of Albania.

Deposits of individuals and businesses increased by 2 billion Lek (1.6 million dollars), up 2.5 percent from the previous month in annual terms.

Term deposits in foreign currencies increased by 3.5 billion Lek (2.8 million dollars), said the report.

Experts noted that the increase of deposits in euro may also be attributed to a 150 million euro loan (160.5 million dollars) taken by the Albanian government through the issuance of five-year bonds on international financial markets. Endi
