Israeli soldiers kill 2 Palestinians in West Bank amidst knife attack

Xinhua, January 9, 2016 Adjust font size:

Two Palestinians tried to stab Israeli soldiers at a checkpoint in the West Bank before the troop shot and killed them early on Saturday morning, a military spokesperson said in a statement.

No Israelis were injured in the incident, which occurred near the Jewish settlement of Beka'ot in the northern West Bank's Jordan Valley, the spokesperson said.

The killing was the latest in a three-month-long wave of Israeli and Palestinian violence. 23 Israelis and one U.S. citizen have been killed in stabbing, shooting, and car-ramming attacks since September.

At the same time, at least 139 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire. Most of them were killed during attacks or attempted ones, according to Israel. Endit
