Toyota Vietnam recalls nearly 20,000 cars for faulty windows

Xinhua, January 8, 2016 Adjust font size:

Toyota Vietnam on Friday night announced that it is conducting recall of 19,616 vehicles for checking, repairing and replacing of Power Window Master Switch.

The move is part of the mass safety recall of approximately 2 million vehicles worldwide for various models. In Vietnam, the models include Corolla, Vios and Yaris.

The Power Window Master Switch in the involved vehicles may have been manufactured with insufficient lubricant grease.

If not enough grease is applied, under certain conditions, the switch may develop a short circuit that can cause the switch assembly to overheat and melt. A melting switch can produce smoke and potentially lead to a fire, according to the website of Toyota.

Earlier in December, 2015, Toyota Vietnam recalled over 3,800 made-in-Vietnam Vios cars to check and replace inflator module of the front passenger airbag. In April, 2014, it also announced to recall 42,772 vehicles for checking and replacing of the spiral cable of driver's airbag. Endit
