2nd LD Writethru: India identifies "handlers" of Pathankot airbase attack

Xinhua, January 7, 2016 Adjust font size:

India Thursday identified militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Maulana Masood Azhar, his brother Rauf, and two others as "handlers" behind the attack upon Pathankot airbase.

It also said that the ball is in Pakistan's court as for whether the foreign secretary-level talks of the two countries would be held this month.

This information has been conveyed to Pakistan side by India, said Press Trust of India.

The Indian government had said earlier that after the terror attack on the Indian Air Force base in Pathankot in Punjab, the ball was in Pakistan's court on continuation of the resumed bilateral talks.

Uncertainty prevails on the foreign secretary-level talks scheduled for Jan. 15 in Islamabad following the strike on the Pathankot airbase near the Pakistan border.

Six attackers and seven Indian security and air force men were killed in a three-day gunfight within the premises of the sprawling airbase.

Local media said India could put off the foreign secretary-level talks, but let the national security advisors of the two countries to meet first to discuss the fallout of the airbase attack on bilateral ties. Endit
