Indonesia conveys concern over Iran, Saudi Arabia ties

The Indonesian government has been wary over the relation between Iran and Saudi Arabia amid rising tension between the two countries, an official said here on Thursday.

Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said in a statement that such condition is potential to disturb the security in Middle East.

"With the strong wariness over the peace and security in the Middle East, Indonesia has intensively conducted communication with Saudi Arabia and Iran and other countries,"the statement said.

"The communication is undertaken to prevent the situation from worsening."

The minister said that Indonesia would continuously carry out the communication.

Indonesia is the world's largest Muslim country and most of its 250 million population are Muslims. Endit
