OneAsia spots up for grabs at Q-School

OneAsia Qualifying School will be staged in Malaysia in early March, the regional Tour announced on Wednesday.

Tour cards for the circuit will be up for grabs at Sutera Harbor Golf and Country Club, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah from March 1-4 with entries open until Feb. 26. The event will be played over 72 holes with the field being cut to 80 players and ties after the second round.

The winner of Q-School will be eligible for all OneAsia tournaments in 2016 with players ranked second and third being exempt for most events. Players finishing from fourth to 20th spot will be eligible for membership and be exempt for some tournaments.

Lee Jun Seok from Australia won Q-School when it was last held at Sutera Harbor in 2014 and went on to place sixth on that year's OneAsia Order of Merit with winnings of 156,566 U.S. dollars.

"Teeing it up at Q-School represents a great career move with success opening a lot of doors," said David Parkin, Director of Tour Operations, OneAsia. "OneAsia offers players the chance to play in big tournaments and earn good money.

"Sutera Harbour is a great venue and I am sure there will be stiff competition for spots on OneAsia."

OneAsia staged seven tournaments with total prize money of more than 9 million U.S. dollars in 2015.

The European Tour joint-sanctioned Volvo China Open will be staged from April 28-May 1, 2016, at the Ian Woosnam-designed Topwin Golf and Country Club, in the tournament's birthplace of Beijing.

OneAsia - founded in 2009 by the China Golf Association, the Korea Golf Tour, the Korea Golf Association and the PGA of Australia - will announce their full schedule for 2016 in a few weeks time. Endi
