Indonesia to unveil new economic policy next week

Xinhua, January 6, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Indonesian government will announce new economic package policy next week, a move aiming at luring investment and propping up economic growth, a senior minister said here Wednesday.

The policy would be the ninth of a series economic package issued by President Joko Widodo.

"There will be (new economic package). Hopefully it will be announced next week," Economic Chief Minister Darmin Nasution said at the Economic Chief Ministry.

However, Nasution refused to elaborate further.

Previously, he has said the government would issue two more economic stimulus packages, the ninth and the tenth packages this year.

President Widodo has unveiled a raft of economic stimulus packages since September to boost investment and prop up GDP growth.

Indonesia's economy started picking up at 4.73 percent in the third quarter of last year after growing at the slowest pace in six years of 4.6 percent, according to the national statistic bureau. Endit
