Vipshop yet to respond to Chinese consumer association's letter on fake goods

New York-listed Vipshop (China) Co., Ltd., a flash sale giant, has yet to respond to a cautionary letter from the China Consumers Association (CCA) as of Wednesday morning.
The CCA issued a so-called cautionary letter on Tuesday, asking Vipshop Co. to further clarify after the company made a statement on Thursday acknowledging fake Maotai products, a top Chinese liquor brand, were being sold on its site.
The letter said the CCA is paying close attention to the issue and has noted that its negative influence continues to be felt by consumers. The CCA said Vipshop's statement needs clarification.
The CCA urged Vipshop Co. to thoroughly test the quality of the fake Maotai liquor and publish the results, rather than claiming the fake products are harmless to humans.
Information about the fake liquor's manufacturer and its other products sold on Vip.com should also be published, the CCA said.
Vipshop said in the published statement it has contacted all 903 buyers of the fake goods and has offered each of them a refund worth ten times the price of the fake product.
Vipshop said it has permanently stopped its business cooperation with the fake liquor supplier, according to the statement. Endi
