Body of woman with British passport found in S. Africa

Xinhua, January 4, 2016 Adjust font size:

The body of a woman with a British passport has been found in the South African eastern coastal city of Durban, authorities confirmed on Sunday.

The body was found in bushes between Durban's Suncoast Casino and a lifesaving club by a lifeguard Saturday night, local police said.

An inquest docket has been opened to determine the cause of the woman's death, police spokesperson Thulani Zwane said.

No arrests have been made so far, Zwane said.

Authorities have provided very little details about the woman but said only that they would contact British authorities.

The victim was a 31-year-old woman and a post-mortem will be conducted, said Zwane.

The British High Commission in Pretoria made no comment on the news. A call to the commission went unanswered. Enditem
