At least 14 people were killed and several others injured when gas cylinder of a van carrying wedding guests exploded in Pakistan's northwest Karak district on Sunday, local media reported.

Urdu TV channel Abb Takk reported that the overloaded vehicle fall into a ravine while negotiating a sharp turn, following which its gas cylinder exploded, engulfing it in flames at Sanda Kharam area of Karak, a district in the country's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The people on the ill-fated van were on their way to Dera Isamail Khan city from the provincial capital of Peshawar to attend a wedding.

Police said all the people inside the bus were close-related family members.

The injured people and bodies have been shifted to a nearby hospital, where the doctors said that the killed victims included seven women and five kids. Enditem
