Heavy rains delay Dubai flights, cause flooding

Xinhua, January 3, 2016 Adjust font size:

Heavy rains caused delays in Dubai International Airport flights and streets were flooded in the New Dubai area on Sunday.

Dubai International Airport is experiencing flight delays due to weather and operational conditions, its management said on its website.

Also, the heavy rains jammed the early morning traffic during the rush hours.

Dubai daily Khaleej Times reported that streets around Dubai's shopping mall "Ibn Battuta" in the south-west of the emirate were flooded and traffic was partly disrupted.

Several car accidents occurred also on Dubai's main roads in the morning.

Dubai police urged drivers to steer their vehicles with caution and at lower speed.

Local meteorological service said the weather in Dubai would remain unstable in the next two days. Endit
