China's logistics sector slows

Xinhua, January 3, 2016 Adjust font size:

China's logistics industry grew at a slower pace in the first 11 months of 2015 than a year ago, new data showed Sunday.

In the January-November period, the total value of goods carried by the logistics sector rose 5.8 percent year on year to 202.4 trillion yuan (31.17 trillion U.S. dollars), the National Development and Reform Commission said in a statement.

Although the growth picked up from 5.7 percent in the first 10 months of 2015, it was 2.5 percentage points lower than the same period in 2014, data showed.

The slower growth comes amid a slowdown of the wider economy. China's GDP expanded by 6.9 percent in the third quarter of 2015, the slowest quarterly growth in six years.

Logistics expenditure rose 4 percent to 9.3 trillion yuan in the first 11 months, flat from the first 10 months, the statement said. Endi
