One killed, four injured with at least 1,000 houses in Manila, capital of Philippines, affected by a fire on Friday, a local fire officer said.

Superintendent Renato Marcial, spokesman of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), said the fire affected around 3,000 families in the city.

One village official died due to heart attack during the fire, Marcial added.

The fire razed a slum area in Tondo, Manila, affecting houses made of light construction materials, according to a disaster reduction officer.
