Afghan security forces kill 11 militants within day

The Afghan security forces have pressed on to clear the militants in restive provinces, killing 11 militants in the latest operations, the country's Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.

"Afghan army, police and personnel of intelligence agency carried out cleanup operations in Nangarhar, Helmand and Laghman provinces within the past 24 hours, killing 11 armed Taliban militants, wounding six and detaining one," the ministry said in a statement.

They also found and seized weapons and defused several roadside bombs and landmines, said the statement providing daily operational updates.

The statement also confirmed the loss of four army personnel across the country over the same period.

The Taliban militant group has yet to make comments. Enditem
