Albania November exports down 9.1 pct year-on-year

Albania's exports amounted to 19 billion ALL (about 151.10 million U.S. dollars) in November, down 9.1 percent year-on-year and 3.8 percent month-on-month, according to data released by Albanian National Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) on Tuesday.

INSTAT estimated that trade deficit in November was 29 billion ALL, registering a growth of 10.3 percent compared to the same period last year and a fall of 2 percent compared to October.

The fall in exports was mainly due to a 12.7 percent decrease in minerals, fuel and electric energy. The export of construction materials and metals, as well as machinery and equipment spare parts also decreased.

According to INSTAT data, trade with European Union(EU) countries accounted for 67.0 percent of Albania's trade exchanges. In November, exports to EU countries accounted for 80.3 percent of the total, whereas imports from EU countries accounted for 61.8 percent of total import.

The main trade partners remain Italy, which accounted for 38.5 percent its total, while China ranked second by accounting for 7.8 percent. Greece and Germany respectively accounted for 6.3 percent and 6.1 percent of Albania's trade in November.

Meanwhile, imports in November were valued at 49 billion ALL, registering a year-on-year growth of 1.7 percent and a month-on-month drop of 2.7 percent. Enditem
