Belarus president declares 2016 Year of Culture

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has declared 2016 the Year of Culture, local media reported on Tuesday.

The Belarusian president declared 2016 the Year of Culture after signing the decree on Monday.

According to the decree, in 2016, Belarusian authorities are to focus their efforts in culture in all areas, such as education of patriotism.

Lukashenko instructed the government, regional executive committees and Minsk City Executive Committee to develop a National Action Plan for the Year of Culture.

The decree aims to pool together talents to meet the challenges of socio-economic development, preserve historical and cultural heritage, foster citizens' patriotism, and support creative initiatives, the press release said. Endit
